Most of us never use our hands for anything harder than a screen. Laces became velcro, dials became buttons, everything became a swipe — and hands quietly lost the work they used to get for free. The Rock-climbing ball gives it back, as a game you'll actually keep playing.

What it is

A 10cm solid wood block — about the size of a large orange — fitted with 12 real resin climbing holds. You 'climb' it with your fingers alone, moving from one hold to the next without letting go. It is a genuine challenge for grip, finger strength, dexterity and problem-solving, small enough to live on a desk or a coffee table.

What's in the box

  • The Boulder Block — solid wood, 10cm
  • 12 real resin climbing holds, in four grip types
  • Allen key and 12 screws, so every hold unscrews and moves
  • The Challenge Deck — 32 expert-designed routes across 4 difficulty levels
  • Progress tracker cards, to log your sends
  • Canvas storage pouch

Will it fit their hands?

It's one size — about 10cm across, roughly a large orange, sized to sit in an adult hand. That means:

  • Around 8 and up is where most children get on with it. It's the most common question we get, and the honest answer is to judge by hand size rather than birthday.
  • From about 10 it's comfortable for nearly everyone.
  • Smaller hands can still play it — they just use fewer holds at a time and invent shorter routes. Several buyers have told us their child made up their own way to play.
  • Short fingers on an adult hand make some of the Purple routes genuinely harder. That's the difficulty working as intended, not a defect.

If it turns out not to suit, that's what the 60 days are for.

How you use it

  1. Screw the 12 holds onto the block. One Allen key, about two minutes.
  2. Pick a route card and start on Yellow, the easiest of four levels.
  3. Climb it with your fingers only, hold to hold, without letting go.
  4. Work toward Purple. Then unscrew the holds, move them, and invent your own.

A few minutes a day is the whole commitment. That is the point — the best hand training is the one that actually gets done, and this one gets picked up because it is fun, not because it is virtuous.

Who it's for

  • Climbers — the off-wall finger habit you'll keep, on rest days, while travelling, or while injured.
  • Parents, grandparents and teachers — hand strength and fine motor control for children, without a screen.
  • Occupational therapists, physios and educational assistants — an engaging hands-on activity clients pick up between sessions.
  • Adults 50+ — grip, dexterity and finger mobility, kept up because it doesn't feel like an exercise.
  • Anyone buying a gift — for the person who is impossible to shop for, or already owns all the gear.
